Mini break to the Lake District

We decided to take a little break to the Lake District which is about 90 minutes drive from our house. We visited Windermere and Ambleside and on the way home stopped off at Grange-over-Sands. Just the ticket for a bit of breathing space!

I'm very excited to make my thank you cards!

Birthday Party

My friend made me these wonderful cupcakes!

Yummy

Even the sandwiches have to have a bit of decoration.

Trifles in glass painted glasses!

I set up a craft table in the conservatory for the kids (and adults!) to play with.

We had a BBQ but missed taking a photo in action hehee

Pete loves doing BBQs

All the men gathered outside under the marquee in the rain. Its a man thing!

A weekend away

Remember me saying that Pete had another surprise for his 30th birthday? Well this was it! We went to York for the weekend. This is York Minster
We also visited York Sweet Story on their opening day.
The tour was really interesting because we got to see how chocolates are made. I'd never really considered how they made the shells for chocolate so I learnt something new!
There's lots of old buildings and cobbled streets around York which are nice to look around.
You know how I love a tea room!
We happened along a street that was full of charity shops! I had a little root in this one because it had a vintage section upstairs. I got two jumpers and two bags and they were so cheap. Yes that's Pete you can see outside reading his book!
Then we made our way to the Bed and Breakfast The Wolds Retreat which is part of Madhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre.

As you can see from the photos it was a really lovely place set in 42 acres of beautiful grounds.
We were lucky enough to have breakfast in the window overlooking the grounds for both nights we were there. Such a lovely start to the day!
We went on 3 specific walks around the grounds
So peaceful!
 Lake walk
 Hehee!
 A roaming chicken!
 Woods walk
We saw the most amazing sunset too.
The following day we went to Burnby Hall Gardens which was in the next town.
I had fun taking photos, it's been a while!
 What a cute face!
 Giraffe statues
A lovely trip away.
